IVALSA analysed the procedures of architectural composition and design of buildings that use X-lam panels as their main structural element. The research started with a review of the state-of-the-art in Italy and other European countries by visiting construction sites and meeting designers.
The study revealed the high potential of this new construction technique and succeeded in defining the different steps that must be taken by a designer in order to achieve a perfect equilibrium between the generally accepted rules of technology and the new building material.
